Esto le permite, adem\u00e1s, extraer litio, un mineral clave para la industria tecnol\u00f3gica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alemania sit\u00faa<strong>&nbsp;la desalaci\u00f3n del agua de mar y la extracci\u00f3n de litio&nbsp;<\/strong>en un nuevo terreno con una membrana experimental&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41563-026-02511-y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">descrita en Nature Materials<\/a>. Es capaz de mover iones en agua con voltajes muy bajos, sin bombas mec\u00e1nicas, sin reacciones qu\u00edmicas y sin sistemas de presi\u00f3n convencionales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El avance ha sido liderado por el Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, en Alemania, y propone una arquitectura muy distinta a la de las tecnolog\u00edas habituales. La clave est\u00e1 en una&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elconfidencial.com\/tecnologia\/2025-07-14\/eeuu-solucion-problema-coche-electrico-1qrt_4172557\/\">membrana porosa<\/a>&nbsp;recubierta por capas met\u00e1licas ultrafinas a ambos lados, dise\u00f1adas para regular el paso de part\u00edculas con carga el\u00e9ctrica a trav\u00e9s del agua.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan explic\u00f3&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hereon.de\/institutes\/functional_materials_for_sustainability\/director\/index.php.en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Francesca Toma<\/a>, directora del Instituto de Materiales Funcionales para la Sostenibilidad de Hereon,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hereon.de\/communication_media\/news\/120500\/index.php.en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">en una nota de prensa<\/a>, &#8220;este trabajo introduce una nueva forma de impulsar el transporte continuo de iones en agua aprovechand<strong>o mecanismos de trinquete en materiales nanoporosos<\/strong>&#8220;. Esa idea, de base f\u00edsica, evita recurrir a piezas m\u00f3viles o a procesos electroqu\u00edmicos intensivos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-como-funciona-la-membrana\">C\u00f3mo funciona la membrana<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El sistema se basa en aplicar una tensi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica baja y conmutarla con rapidez. Ese encendido y apagado repetido provoca<strong>&nbsp;ciclos de carga y descarga en las interfaces met\u00e1licas<\/strong>, y las peque\u00f1as asimetr\u00edas que aparecen durante ese proceso generan un flujo controlado de iones, como si la propia membrana actuara como una bomba microsc\u00f3pica.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los investigadores subrayaron que &#8220;controlar el movimiento de iones a trav\u00e9s de l\u00edquidos es fundamental para muchos procesos tecnol\u00f3gicos y biol\u00f3gicos&#8221;. Precisamente por eso, el desarrollo no se limita a una mejora puntual en laboratorio, sino que<strong>&nbsp;apunta a un principio con posibles aplicaciones<\/strong>&nbsp;en depuraci\u00f3n, separaci\u00f3n selectiva y tratamiento avanzado del agua.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para comprobar su alcance,<strong>&nbsp;el equipo integr\u00f3 esta membrana en un peque\u00f1o sistema de desalaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. En las pruebas de laboratorio, el dispositivo logr\u00f3 reducir hasta un 50% la salinidad del agua, y lo hizo sin bombas, sin filtros que requieran presi\u00f3n y sin aditivos qu\u00edmicos, tres de los elementos que m\u00e1s elevan el coste energ\u00e9tico en los m\u00e9todos convencionales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-desalacion-y-litio-en-el-mismo-horizonte\">Desalaci\u00f3n y litio en el mismo horizonte<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la desalinizaci\u00f3n, el trabajo abre la puerta a separar de forma selectiva iones con la misma carga el\u00e9ctrica,&nbsp;<strong>aprovechando diferencias sutiles en su comportamiento bajo un campo el\u00e9ctrico<\/strong>.
